Avalanche.
Owner/Handler George Ferrari.
.
Avalanche came into the Ferrari's lives as a replacement pup. All the breeder had left were two white puppies when the Ferrari's had to put their original Malamute to sleep; and its all history from there.
George worked hard with this dog all his life. From getting Avalanche to stop barking, to learning how to jump back and forth on the track to have a hit for snow, and to just never give up. As Avi grew older, his snow white coloring started to get rusty, but not his love of pulling. The Ferrari's were always told he would never be a good snow dog - but he sure showed all those people what he was really made of. Many different dogs came and went with the thought they would beat this white dog, but Avi was always there as they imploded their animals. He truly was a force to be reckoned with.
Avi made the local paper several times, even the front page in 2008, the year Championships was held in Yakima. Who knew Avalanche would become so popular; the Reed's discovered that he had his own street named after him; Avalanche Avenue and Avalanche Court both in Yakima, Washington.
The Ferrari's lost Avalanche all too soon, but their "strange" dog will never be forgotten.
