Tug
Handler: Heather Jamison & Marshall Mummey
Balckstar's Sir Tug of SnowLine, call name "Tug", was born in October of 2006. He came to live with Heather and Marshall in February 2007; they picked him up at the Perchville weight pull event in Tawas, Michigan. It was the coldest weekend they can remember.
Tug grew into a successful, dependable puller, starting his IWPA career just weeks after his first birthday. That first pulling season he took silver in both the 60 and 80 pound classes as he was still growing up. He also finished that first season with silver on snow. In just that first season, it was clear to Heather and Marshall, he knew what to do. He competed one more season in both snow and wheels, medaling in both and earning Working Dog Superior. Going into his 3rd season they knew he was not a fan of the winter weather. That season and the following Tug confidently placed gold in the region on wheels. He finished his career at the end of the 2011-2012 season with silver on wheels.
Tug preferred to pull on a natural surface and only competed pulling on carpet a handful of times. The first was at Championships in 2009. Tug travelled to several places in the Midwest to compete and even competed with a regional sled dog club, showing them the power of a bully breed.
Tug was a huge part of the Jamison/Mummey family and helped train some of their current competitors.
Sadly Tug lost his battle with bone cancer and was laid to rest on November 5th, 2012.
