Maxine
Owner/Handler: Shirley Webber
Maxine was born on the 13th (June 1999) which in itself is a lucky number in the Webber family, so she was destined to make Shirley happy. Maxine was not Shirley's first pick, but Shirley is so happy she ended up with Maxine. Maxine's pulling career spanned 10 seasons and she brought home a total of 12 Regional Gold medals on wheels and snow, 5 Regional Silver medals on wheels or snow and 1 Regional Bronze medal on snow. Maxine also earned 1 Bronze International Championship medal on snow at the championships held in Cadillac, Michigan.
Maxine started her career at 14 months old. She was an easy trainer and loved to please. Whenever Shirley showed her the harness she was ready to go. In Maxine's pulling career she out pulled many of great dogs and lost to them also, with grace.
Maxine was a great traveling companion and she and Shirley went to many pulls together; New York, Colorado, Washington and many others.
Maxine rarely had to go to the vets and just was an easy keeper, as well as a happy dog.
Shirley recalls one of the funniest things she will remember about Maxine is that whenever they would say hello, no matter what, Maxine had to put her 2 cents in and put a woof in there, as if she was also saying hello. Shirley thinks Maxine knew it made them all laugh.
With keeping with her easy style of living, she too passed away silently, in her favorite place of all, her dog house that she had always on a slant from her digging under it.
Shirley knows Maxine will be waiting for her with tail wagging at the rainbow bridge.
