Windswept's "Terra" of Saranac
Owner/Handler: Dan Plosila
Terra is a Samoyed owned and handled by Dan Plosila. Terra is in the 40 pound Class. She came into the lives of Belva and Dan Plosila on March 18th, 2004, just before her 6th birthday. Terra was adopted from a show breeder's kennel and with no apparent obedience training.
Dan put her through beginner obedience classes that year and she participated as a novice weight puller during the 2004-2005 season. She took to weight pulling and 2005-2006 was her first year in sanctioned pulling. Terra earned Regional medals on snow (a gold) and wheels (a bronze) as well as Working Dog Certificates on snow and wheels that season.
In subsequent years, Terra received 4 bronze Regional medals on snow and 2 silver Regional medals on wheels. She earned and was awarded 1 silver and 1 bronze medal on snow at the IWPA Championships in Michigan and Connecticut.
The Samoyed Club of America awarded her a Working Samoyed Excellent (WSX) title as a result of her weight pulling efforts. She was also declared the most improved weight pull dog in 2006 and 2008 by the Organization for the Working Samoyed.
Terra was retired from weight pulling after the 2009-2010 season. She was loved and treasured by the Plosila's for over 8 years of her life. Terra passed away on January 29, 2012 at the age of 13 years, 10 months old.
