Sebastian
Owner/Handler: Sheryl Franklin
Sebastian has his CGC as well as his Working Dog Superior Wheels and Working Dog Snow titles from IWPA. He also has the title Working Weight Pull Dog Excellent (AMCA). Sebastian has been a regional medal winner from the 2007-2008 season through the 2015-2016 season. He was a Silver Medalist in both Wheels and Snow for the 2009-2010 Championships. He was a Bronze Medalist in Snow for the 2013-2014 Championships at 10 years old. He was a Gold Medalist on Wheels for the 2015-2016 Championships at 12 years old.
One of the things Sebastian is remembered for is his big personality. Some might say attitude. Sebastian had so much fun flipping off Sheryl in the chute for the first 4 or 5 years of his career. One of his favorites was to leave the cart a few inches short of the finish line, because no matter how much he trained pulling longer than 16 feet, he knew exactly how long 16 feet was. Then he'd restart the pull and usually finished it.
He surprised Sheryl when he started growing up close to 8 years old. One day at a pull, she turned around to face him in the chute and he was pulling towards her instead of standing there thinking up some new way to be a crowd pleaser. That working attitude continued with him becoming a wonderful puller. A high point was him taking MWP 2 days in a row at the Harrisburg Malamute show in 2013 at 9 years old, beating excellent younger dogs. Another high point was Sebastian earning a Medal at Championships at 12 years of age.
His personal bests were 1270 lbs. on snow and 4800 lbs. on wheels
Sebastian started out slowly as a working dog, but he ended his career as a true working dog.
Sebastian passed away and crossed the Rainbow Bridge on November 21, 2016.
