Region 7
Cinnabar
Owner/Handler: Sheryl Franklin
Cinnabar is now a 13 year old Alaskan Malamute. He has his CGC and a title in agility. He also has his Working Dog Superior Wheels and Working Dog Snow titles from IWPA. Cinnabar also has the title Working Weight Pull Dog Excellent (AMCA).
Cinnabar was a regional medal winner from the 2008-2009 season to the 2016-2017 season (he began pulling in 2007). He completed his final Regional Medalist season at 12 years old. He was a Silver Medalist on snow & a Bronze Medalist on wheels at the 2009-2010 Championships. He was a Bronze Medalist on Snow at the 2013-2014 Championships at 9 years old.
In January 2016, Cinnabar took MWP at the Jim Lobdell snow pull just 5 weeks shy of 11 years old. There were younger, stronger dogs pulling, but his snow experience gave him the edge.
Since puppyhood, he's done his best to please. An excellent ambassador for Alaskan Malamutes, he loved meeting all the people & dogs at the pulls. With his sweet nature, he developed a fan following at our annual weight pull demos for Tails of the Tundra Siberian Husky Rescue and because of his laid back personality was credited with helping one of the rescues learn how to play with another dog.
Cinnabar had a fan following at the Jim Lobdell snow pulls. We'd see many of the same spectators from year to year. They remembered his name and his brother Sebastian's name, but had no clue what Sheryl's name was. That was ok, she's happy to be known as Cinnabar's mom.
Cinnabar was always in the hunt for MWP at the AMCA pulls in Harrisburg, and won it in 2009.
One year at the AMCA pulls, there was a spectator crying while watching him pull. Sheryl's friend, Patty, asked her about it and she said, "he just loves her so much, look at him work for her".
He always pranced into the chute when he heard "Cinnabar is up!", waggling his head the entire way. He did his best prancing & waggling when Wendy Leister called his name, he adores Wendy.
Cinnabar's personal bests are 1270 lbs. on snow and 4532 lbs. on wheels.
