Royal's Valentine Rose Princess Rahab aka Rosie
Owner/Handler: Robbie & Terry Reed
Rosie is an 8-year-old Dogue De Bordeaux. She was brought to her forever home at Royal Kennel from a local rescue in September 2016 and began her pulling career in November of that year. Terry and Robbie were told she was one of two sisters that were purchased by the original owner to be show dogs and she had been surrendered because the owner could not handle both of them. The rescue said her birthday is in February, hence her given name.
Her personal best pulls are Carpet 3110 pounds, Dirt 3400 pounds, Natural Snow 1162 pounds and Artificial Snow 858 pounds.
In her IWPA career Rosie earned.
2016-2017 Regional Silver Medals on wheels and snow
Championship Bronze Medals on wheels and snow
2017-2018 Regional Silver Medals on wheels and snow
2018-2019 Regional Bronze Medals on wheels and snow
2019-2020 Regional Silver Medal on wheels
2021-2022 Regional Silver Medal on wheels
Unfortunately for Rosie and many other dogs in IWPA two Championships were cancelled which gave no opportunity for more Championship medals.
At a snow pull in her first season Rosie was doing extremely well. Well enough in fact that another handler stated to Robbie that Terry must have been working with her a lot. Robbie replied " No, she is a rescue. She just does it because Daddy ask her to."
Rosie was forced into retirement after the 2021-2022 season with severe arthritis in her hips. She now enjoys lounging around at home giving the rest of the dog's advice and telling war stories.
